A Must Read!

Ladies, I have to pass along a website that you must go to if you're a parent. It's never too early to get a jump on the years ahead, and this website is a wonderful resource moms and their girls. (Dads are welcome too....equally important no doubt.)

Visit www.virtuealert.blogspot.com

This site is awesome. Vicki Courtney provides insightful reading and awesome wisdom. In fact, my daughter and I will be going to Lexington for one of her mother-daughter workshops in November. I'll be posting more info soon with the details.

Save the date!

Hi ladies! Hope all had a wonderful Easter Sunday celebrating we serve a Risen King. Services were wonderful and it was awesome having all those visitors.

Okay, the women's ministry has another event coming up that we want you to plan on attending! July 27th, a Sunday evening, 6:30, we will have "Chit, Chat, & Chocolate." This will probably be similiar to the coffeehouse type event we did last year. Our team is already at work preparing and planning for this neat time for women to come together, invite a friend, and just hang out and have fun. Oh yeah. We'll incorporate God's Word too. :)

So, save the date, mark your calendar, and plan on coming out!

If you attended the "Banishing Sacred Cows" event, please post a comment and let us know what you thought of the day. Many have expressed positives and enjoyed their day. Tell us what you thought and what you'd like to see at SVBC. :)

Have a great Tuesday!

Monday Reminders

Ladies, I don't know about you, but sometimes I need a reminder that there is an ememy out there, loose in the world, who seeks to destroy me (Jn. 10:10). Sometimes I need a reminder to put on the full armor of God (Eph. 6: 10-20). While I would be the first to say I'm an "odd bird", I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who needs to reminded of these truths.

I'm doing a great bible study by Angela Thomas right now, as are many of you. (2 groups in our church). Today's lesson was on the Accuser, Satan, the devil, whatever you wish to call him. While I never want to give him more credit than he deserves, we do know some things about him.

Satan.........spotlights our sin and keeps reminding us of it.....tries to make us feel confused....keeps us wounded with repetitive lies...reminds us what the world says...disappoints us with cheap imitations...and never, never stops trying to trip us up. God, on the other hand, forgives sin we repent of and remembers no more...wants to make our paths clear...heals wounds and replaces lies with truth...reminds us of His promises to us....rewards with great blessings....and never, never stops providing us abundant strength to resist the enemy.

What a reminder Angela Thomas' words were to me today. I pray they're a reminder to you. God's grace is sufficient for you (2 Cor. 12:9), and enough for whatever you need.

Final Countdown!

It's not too late for you to purchase your ticket for our women's event tomorrow. We are so excited about Sisterhood coming to Severns Valley, and we feel certain everyone is in for a real blessing. Hopefully, over the weekend, I'll post some pics from the event.

Also, save the date for our next event in late summer. "Chit, Chat, & Chocolate." 3 words that all women understand. :) Mark July 27th in your calendar today!

Wednesday's Wonderful Woman

Okay, the post says "woman", but it's a tie today between 3 wonderful women.

Marnell Knight, Kitty DuPlessis, & Lora Ennis. I had the honor of sitting at their table this morning and they are such examples of Titus 2:4 women. "Then they can train the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God."

Yes, one of these fine ladies happens to be my mother-in-law. She's a wise one too. :) Marnell and Lora are also Godly women who so want to discern exactly what it is the Lord wants for them. All 3 of these women have a hunger for the Word of God. One of them (won't say who) isn't 100% happy with this particular bible study, but she comes anyway. She comes not because the title suits her, but because she gets to open the Bible and learn from other women around her.

Learning never stops for these women. What an example that is to me. What an example that is to all young women they come in contact with.

If you see these 3 ladies around church (or in the community) this week, tell them how much you appreciate them. They're "wonderful women."

p.s. Remember to turn into me, thru this blog or otherwise, your nominee for next week. :)

A New Thing!

I've been mulling something over in my mind for a week or so, and well, guess I'm just going to throw it out there and see if you gals like it. :)

Wednesday's post, beginning tomorrow, will be entitled "Wednesday's Wonderful Woman." I will post a woman from our church tomorrow and share with you why she's wonderful. Here's what happens the following weeks. :) YOU will either email me (or get in touch some way), and nominate a woman from our church that deserves the "Wonderful Woman award." (Make sure you briefly state what makes her wonderful.) I will go through all the nominees, and have the hard job of deciding who gets the award that particular week. This will be FUN!! You can nominate by posting a comment to this post, or another post, however you chose.

So, stayed tuned for tomorrow's wonderful woman! It may be you!! :)

Come Banish A Cow or Two!

Just a reminder about our women's event this coming Saturday, March 15th, from 9 to 2:30 @ SVBC. Sisterhood, a Christian drama group, will be our keynote speakers, and from what I've heard, they are awesome. The title of the day is "Banishing Your Sacred Cows." Now, if nothing else gets you there, the title will!!! :) The cost is $20 and includes a delicious lunch catered by our own Mary Levee. :)

Our women's min. team wants nothing more than to reach out to women in our church and in our community, meeting them right where they are, encouraging them by providing fellowships, bible studies, support groups....the possibilities are endless with this ministry. Come be apart of Saturday and I feel certain you will be blessed. :)

Also, it's not too late to come to the Angela Thomas study on Wednesdays. Just come! The morning session runs from 9:30 to 11:30 and the evening is from 6 to 7:15.

Wednesday Bible Study

As I type this, we're "one down, one to go" on the Angela Thomas bible study. :) This morning we had a great turnout, and I'm anticipating one tonight at 6 p.m. Come ready to receive your book, and a blessing to boot. :)

The question we'll be facing (no pun intended), is whether or not we're beautiful. We'll explore what that actually means....and....what our Heavenly Father has to say about it. Come for fellowship and the blessing of being with other women just like you. This is a DVD driven study with discussion to follow. There will be more time for discussion in the a.m. study, but the p.m. will have about 25 or so minutes of looking at the week's homework and sharing what you've heard from the Lord.

I hope to post some pics tomorrow!
